About Tilganga

TIO is the implementing body of the Nepal Eye Program, a non profit, community based, non-government organization. With an aim to act as a model for treatment research and training, independent of, but in co operation with all other eye care centres and organizations in Nepal, the current TIO facility was opened in 1994.

Genreral Information about cataract & IOL

As people age, the lens in their eyes gradually becomes less transparent (hardens with age). The lens becomes cloudy and this interferes with the passage of light to the retina. At this stage it is called a cataract.
